Title: Honeymoon Revisited

Sheri filled her coffee mug and joined her husband on their back porch. Summer had arrived once again. The year was going by so fast. Before either of them knew it, their youngest would be off to college and they’d be home alone. Her girlfriends weren’t looking forward to their empty nests, but she was hoping to rekindle some of the romance back into her marriage.

“Why aren’t we taking a vacation this summer?” her husband’s long legs stretched out in front of him.

“Janis is staying at school for the whole summer and Paul said he’d be too busy with his friends.”

“We should have planned something for just the two of us.”

“That sounds lovely. What would you like to do?” She let her head fall back against the rocking chair and raised her chin towards the sun rising in the sky.

“Maybe we could revisit one of our old favorites, like the camping trip or we could go back to Puerto Vallarta.” He reached out and took hold of her hand. “We haven’t been back since our honeymoon.”

“Well, I’m sure you know which one I’d prefer.”

“Alright then.” He let go of her hand and walked towards their shed.

“Where are you going?”

“I better air out the old tents.” He entered their shed and then poked his head back out. “Unless …”

“Unless what?” She sat up straighter in her chair.

He came out of the shed with a bouquet of bougainvillea and an envelope.

“What did you do?”

“We did it so well the first time; I figured we should do it again.”

  1. He is a man after any woman's heart, a true romantic. The sprays of flowers are fitting for remembering the first time.
