Title: Sounds of the Night

From his rooftop perch, he soaked in the sounds of the night. Music rang out from a distance and somewhere close by a horn blared. The stars flickered above, but the lights were brightest just below where the darkest dangers were lurking.

Sean closed his eyes and took a deep breath, shutting out all sounds and searched for the heartbeat he knew best.

Silence was his reward.

Frustration ate away at his resolve. He didn’t want to think of the possibility that he’d missed her, that she was already gone.

His eyebrows pinched together as he reached out further into the distance.

A faint rhythm rolled through him and warmed his heart. He leapt off the ledge and ran.

  1. S J I like the tone and mystery you wrote with the music and the sound he needed to hear. "His eyebrows pinched together as he reached out in the distance."- beautiful description
