Title: Italian Moment of Bliss

Even though they’d been married for two days, Sebastien still couldn’t believe she’d actually said yes. Watching Angelina sit on their motorbike waiting for him to return with the gelatos he promised, she looked like a supermodel. Her hair windblown and sexy. The mere sight of it made him not want to continue their tour of Florence and instead drive directly back to their hotel to mess it up even further.

Alas, this was their once in a lifetime trip. To spend two weeks travelling around Italy utilizing various modes of transportation. They’d flown into Rome, taken the train to Florence and they were now sightseeing around the area by motorbike. In a couple of days they were headed to Venice to end their trip by being serenaded on gondolas. Life was good now, but he remembered the hardship they’d faced to get to this place, and knew their current state of bliss was only temporary.

Her wealthy family had originally wanted her to marry the son of her father’s business partner, thankfully the son had chosen another girl, but her parents never approved of Sebastien. They’d had to elope and send her parents a letter before they boarded the plane to Italy. They both knew she wouldn’t be inheriting any of family’s trust now that she had disobeyed their directive. But love was blind and even though Sebastien had grown up as a poor immigrant, he’d worked his way up to managing the manufacturing company he’d been working at since he was sixteen. It was enough to pay the bills and he’d worked enough overtime the last three months to help pay for their honeymoon.

When they got back, he’d have to pick up more shifts to try and cobble together a downpayment for a house, but it was their dream. And together, they would make it work, no matter what.

He sauntered back to his love holding two cups of spumoni. Giving her a quick peck on the cheek, he handed her the icy treat. “A sweet treat for my sweet treat,” he cooed, not caring if he sounded like a love struck idiot. He was and unashamed of the fact.

“You are such a sap.” She smiled, running her soft palm across his unshaven face. “And I love you all the more because of it.”

“Its a good thing too, since there’s no turning back now.” His words were said with jest, but he also knew the shocking reality of it all as well.

Angelina tilted her face to study his. “You’re still worried about what my parents will do when they find out?” Pulling him down to straddle the bike, she kissed him with a passion she’d never shown outside the bedroom. “You’re mine and I’m yours. We’re married now. There’s only us, and no matter how many times you ask, I’ll never regret giving them up.” She abruptly stood, holding out her hand for him to take. “Come on,” she urged.

Sebastien took her hand and waited to see what she had in mind.

Chucking her half finished gelato into the nearby trash can she motioned him to finish eating his. “Come on, I have better things to do with you than sit around and eat ice cream all day.”

Unsure of her meaning, he pressed, “and what exactly did you have in mind, my love?”

“Lets go back to the hotel. The sights will still be here in the morning.”

Not needing to be told twice, he dumped his cup and started up the motorcycle intent on making the most of their holiday, even if it meant not seeing all the sites they’d come to enjoy. Some memories were more fun to make than others.
