Title: Sinking Ship

Libby pushed the boat back into its slot and rubbed her trembling hands down her thighs. Mark’s flight was scheduled to take off any minute without her. Once again he was leaving her behind.

She hoped he’d come back, but there was no guarantee.

How long would he wait for her to give up her dream? He hadn’t even asked this time. He hadn’t asked her to give up the dream and finally join him in building their life together. She used to dread the question and worry how she’d find a way to say no, again.

Now that he hadn’t asked, a piece of her felt numb and wanted to let it all go. She threw her jacket across the room. After all the years of training, she couldn’t give up now.

It felt like a bag of rocks had filled her stomach and her ship was sinking. She knew she’d keep fighting, for her dreams and the life she’d promised Mark.
