Title: I Need A Vacation
Janis wandered onto the beach. She raised her face to the skies and let the wind fly through her hair. Even on her day off, she couldn’t get enough. The waves crashing onto the beach over and over lolled her senses to a place of peace. She sat on the low ledge and stretched her legs out in front of her, enjoying the warm sand sliding through her toes.
Her afternoon sanctuary split apart with the cracking sound of an ax. She blocked her head to protect herself from flying debris and the ax struck again.
“Would like some milk, Miss.” The old man held out a sliced open coconut.
“No, thanks.” She took a deep breath and shook her hands.
Before she could rub the away, a storm of screaming kids ran towards them. Janis dusted off her shorts and readied herself to help.
They swarmed around the man, begging for milk.
“I need a vacation.”
